WIRELESS NETWORKING EQUIPMENT

Wireless connectivity is becoming common place throughout the United States. Limited primarily to Cell phones and pagers, everyone is using them. For computer users the problem has been that the limited bandwidth of the cellular infrastructure can not provide the necessary broad spectrum band width necessary for High Speed internet access for notebooks, PDA's and the new Tablet PCs.

Tested for the last 6 months in major metro areas like NY and LA the Hotspot concept is now deploying across the US. This technology developed by Toshiba and Intel will provide High Speed access to the internet for anyone using a laptop or other mobile devices using WiFi 802.11b wireless cards. In partnership with businesses that are natural gathering places and stopovers for computer users, Hotspots will allow these devises to be temporarily connected to a wireless access point in the business. Ideal for, but not limited to, Coffee shops, hotel lobbies, book stores, airports, train stations, truck stops, campgrounds and special eventvenues, these Hotspots will allow a user, for a small fee, to connect to the internet. Payment would be by:coupon purchased on site, credit card, or by subscription. At present there are already 3,000 hot spots in the US and it is expected to grow to over 100,000 in the next couple of years.

New laptops, Tablet PC's, and PDA's being launched this year using new high performance chipsets will allhave wireless technology built in. Current users can use readily available WiFi LAN cards that plug into their laptops. Currently there are over 88 million wireless computer devices in the world and they are all looking for businesses that will offer wireless connections.
